3 in 4 B.C. boys on street sexually exploited by women
Vancouver Sun, Gerry Bellett , Canwest News Service, Tuesday, May 27,
2008
VANCOUVER - Canada's largest study into the sexual exploitation of
street kids and runaways has shattered some myths about who the
abusers might be - with the most surprising finding being that many
are women seeking sex with young males.
"Some youth in each gender were exploited by women with more than
three out of four (79 per cent) sexually exploited males reporting
exchanging sex for money or goods with a female," said Elizabeth
Saewyc, associate professor of nursing at the University of British
Columbia and principal investigator for the study conducted by
Vancouver's McCreary Centre Society.
"I must admit it wasn't something we were expecting."

I posted this last week. I'll give the same reply:
--------
Sigh. This is another case of taking a stereotyped idea and
reflexively applying it to the other sex without really thinking
about whether it makes sense.
Look, assuming this story to be accurate, isn't the real problem
that these boys/men are _on the streets_ in the first place? If
we were able to simply abolish this 'exploitation' without
changing anything else, would the life of the 'victims' improve?
Of course not! This is just something else people talk about
to show they 'care'.
I put the word exploitation in quotes because it's not clear
that it's even a valid description - put yourself in the shoes
of one of these boys and ask yourself if it would feel like
exploitation. And yes, that applies to female prostitution
as well. [1]
Yes, I suppose we're supposed to be thankful that someone
is thinking of boys as well, but I just can't, unless they
propose to _actually help_ instead of just make gestures
like this.
Andrew Usher
[1] But not to male prostitution, as I view male
homosexual acts as inherently degrading. |

No, of course not. But that's not the point, as I explained. But you
didn't even fucking read it, did you?
Besides, that definition of 'exploitation' means almost all of us are
'exploited' by our jobs.

I agree Andrew, the primary problem is the boys being on the street
and us doing nothing about that.

Andrew - I am all for a more fine grained evaluation of those poor young
men - I just hope that you are as diligent in your fine grain analysis when
it comes to simlar reports of young women being 'exploited' by men. I'm not
suggesting that you wouldn't be even handed on these issues as I don't know
anything about you as yet.

I have sent it twice. I just sent it again, to both addresses now. I

I would be, yes, perhaps even more so knowing the feminist bias of the
media. Note that I wasn't in any way justifying what allegedly
happened
to these young men.

You're missing the point entirely Andrew. This isn't a hand wringing
exercise meant to point out that these poor boys are on the street, it's
a statement of factual findings that is meant to counter the "men bad
women good" stereotype that is promoted by feminists, to the severe
disadvantage of men...all men.
I would even be willing to speculate that at least some of these young
men are on the street as a result of the disadvantage that men are
placed at by misleading and often outright untruthful feminist rhetoric
and propaganda...
So, in your terms, if this helps, even in small way, to counter that
propaganda, it WILL help at least some of those young men.

Well, it wasn't there Andrew and if you replied the new one isn't
there either. Usually when this kind of thing happens it ends up in
my bulk folder but this time it didn't. Let's keep tabs here on
whether it your emails make it or not.
